Edit PDF Metadata

View and edit document properties like title and author

100% in-browser — your files are never sent to a server
Files are processed only inside your browser
No file is ever uploaded to or stored on a server
All data disappears when you close the browser after you're done

Beyond what you see on screen, a PDF carries hidden 'document properties' (metadata) such as title, author, subject, and keywords. This information shows up in your file explorer's details pane and in a PDF viewer's document-properties window, and it's used for search and organization too. A classic problem is reusing a form someone else made, only to find their name still sitting in the author field.

Upload a PDF and this tool automatically reads the existing title, author, subject, and keywords and fills them into the input fields. Keep those values as they are or edit them — leave a field empty and that property is removed. The page contents are never touched; only the properties are rewritten and saved.

It's handy for cleaning up author information before submitting a document, or filling in a title and keywords so the file is easier to find. Everything happens inside your browser, so the file is never sent to a server.

When It's Useful

Clean up reused-form authorship

When you take over a template someone else built, remove the previous author's name or swap in your own to avoid confusion about the source.

Strip personal info before submitting

Clear properties like author and subject on documents you send out to reduce needless exposure of personal details.

Optimize documents for search

Fill in the title and keywords so the file turns up easily in a company DMS or file search.

Tidy up viewer tab titles

Set a title so a clean, readable name shows in a PDF viewer's tab or window instead of a cryptic filename.

Tips

  • When reusing someone else's form, always check the author field and remove the previous name.
  • You can enter multiple keywords separated by commas, which helps with document search and classification.
  • Filling in the title makes some viewers show it in the tab or window title instead of the filename.
  • Existing values are filled in automatically, so just edit the fields you want to change and leave the rest as they are.
  • Tidying properties doesn't touch the body text baked into the file, so handle any personal info inside the content separately.
  • To organize several documents the same way, set rules for titles and keywords to keep them consistent.
